An all-candidates conversation, hosted by the Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre, will provide an opportunity for the public to hear what Central Nova candidates understand and think about a range of topics not well-covered by previous debates and by the media.
Sean Fraser (Liberal), David Hachey (Green), and Ross Landry (NDP) have confirmed their participation but the organizers say that they “have been advised by the Conservative campaign office in Antigonish that Fred Delory is not likely to participate.”
The moderated conversation will cover five main topics: poverty, violence, climate change, peace, and health care. Each topic will begin with a question framed by a local organization. The candidates, who have already been provided with the questions, will be asked to take turns answering the question and “deepening the conversation” rather than rebutting or challenging each other. There will also be opportunities for exchange among candidates and for audience participation.
Candidates will be encouraged not to “dwell overly on national party platforms, but rather on how those platforms may affect women and equity in Central Nova.”
